I’ve been waiting for the perfect day to break these out, go through them, and select which ones would be the most fitting recap for my blog.
It is snowy and cold, and it is exactly what I was waiting for to detach myself from the fact that it is still winter. I won’t be having a tropical break from that reality any time soon, so I’m using my December tropical respite and celebratory milestone to deter my attention from winter. And as I did pour through these, I once again, had laughs coming from way down deep. This trip was filled with a solid weekend of, very simply put, fun and happy times. As much as I would like to share all 500+ of them, suffice to say that a group of people in their late 30s to early 40s getting together for a weekend of celebration, without their children, makes for far too many laughs to possibly cover in a blog
A book would be more fitting, but we all know that if I can’t keep up with blogging, a book is pretty much out of the question!
Anyhow, this was our 3rd trip celebrating a 40th with this group, and this time around it was for Delta Dawn. Her Hubby Craig and BFF Deborah pulled out all the stops, spared no expense or thought to detail, and made this weekend soiree one that will forever be burned into the mind’s “Best of Times” memory portfolio. Truly happy flashbacks and unforgettable moments would be used to summarize Dawnie’s weekend.
Happy 40th Delta Dawn . . .
Let’s begin with a few of the incredible views from Dawn & Craig’s oceanside suite.
Not a bad place for a 40th Birthday Celebration, huh?!?!

At our arrival dinner, Dawn had people meeting up from all over, and by that I mean Tokyo, Vegas, LA, DC, Jersey, and, of course The Lou.

Dawn’s Brother surprised her and showed up unannounced, after saying all along that he wouldn’t be able to make it!
See what I mean by those laughs
After dinner we headed to the hotel show of the evening, and were all blown-away by the talent of the Michael Jackson show. It was honestly amazing. and then
I see, out of the corner of my eye, our birthday girl creating her own Michael Jackson show . . .

and then Thriller comes on, and our little crowd decides to start doing their own version.
You can’t imagine how many of these I had to dump due to my camera shake from laughing so hard. lol

Next we headed to the hotel disco, and decided we still needed to kick it up a bit.

Day #2 consists of hanging at the pool during the day, and Dawn’s Big Party that evening.
We also received our party favors

Yes, you might have noticed I have a black lip. How wonderful was it to bend over to pick up a toy in the pitch dark,
1 minute before walking out the door to leave for the airport, and jack myself with a child’s chair back. NICE!!!!

Friday Evening: The Big Party

Birthday Girl in her Birthday Glam

So a funny story about this cake. It probably looks a wee-bit simple and rather plain for a 40th, doesn’t it? Well about 30 minutes before we were all heading to the
restaurant for the party, Craig gets a call from the baker saying they had just dropped her cake and it was destroyed. So this would be what you come up with when you
only have 30 minutes to do a 40th birthday cake. Good thing Deb and Craig brought the candles and the birthday confetti!!!

The Toasts

So the bar dancing did not end so well. It kind of ended in bruises and flying beverages.
However, for everyone not involved in the aftermath, it was priceless.
And I missed it because I was going through pics on my camera!!! Go figure . . .

Nice faux blond in the background
Once again, Craig coming through with those details that stay in the mind forever . . .
If you can’t tell by these, Dawn enjoys some karaoke.
Day #3
We started a tradition with year #1 of having a Disco Party. It has continued to grow in detail every year.
Year #1 it was just everyone getting dressed up and partying poolside in Cancun for Deborah’s 40th.
Year #2 began with a parade through Mandalay Bay in Vegas to the pool for Craig’s 40th, no music, but we definitely had heads turning in the casino.
And this year, we took it up a notch and had Dawn lead her entourage to the Beachside Deck (that Craig had rented).
The entire trek to the pavillion, everyone strutted to “Workin’ At The Carwash”, you know that catchy tune from the disco era.
Again I had to dump a ton of shots from laughing so hard, oh and shooting while walking backwards . . . LOL

Dawn waving to the onlookers, and the onlookers

So this was supposed to be a pyramid, but it turned into more of a trapezoid. LOL
Dear Dawnie & Craig,
Jeez, these were so damn fun to go through again.
How cherish these good times and awesome memories with you two,
and I am so happy that even though we are through the 40th parties
we have vowed to keep this going once a year.
Can’t wait to see you in Palm Springs for the wedding.
I so look forward to the memories that will be made from that trip too
Gushy Hugs,
Kel
